The
entrepreneurs, Hilary & Geoffrey Kuhn are now the Managing
Directors of the Mowbray Falls Enviropark Pty. Ltd. As
professionals, they:
engaged in the
Cairns and Port Douglas tourism industry for 20 years: as
tour operators, retailers, wholesalers (domestic and
international); as consultants on strategies for regions,
destinations, Aboriginal communities and other projects.),
facilitated the
Mowbray Falls Enviropark Feasibility Study, Design and Planning,
Business Planning and Trademark development,
gained support
for the project from the Australian Federal government, Queensland
State Government and the local government and community, and
committed to a
Memorandum of Understanding with the EPA Sustainable Industries
Hilary & Geoffrey Kuhn are also committed conservationists and have:
lived adjacent to
the Mowbray Falls Enviropark site for 30 years (with renewable
energy and environmental technologies)/
owned previously
the development site as part of their conservation of 500 acres of
forest at a critical juncture between the Black Mountain corridor
and the Upland Carbine Windsor Tableland. Three quarters of
the property was sold to the Queensland government for the creation
of Mowbray National Park and inclusion into the Wet Tropics World
Heritage area. The development site was retained and then
transferred to the development company, Mowbray Falls Enviropark
Pty. Ltd.,
engaged in
conservation, natural resource and catchment management activities
in tropical Australia for over 20 years,
negotiated a
Cooperative Management Agreement with the Queensland government
management agencies that includes right of access for visitors to
the Mowbray National Park and Wet Tropics World Heritage Area on an
extensive walking track network to be constructed with contribution
from Mowbray Falls Enviropark Pty. Ltd.
